Toxicity and Metabolic Bioactivation

The studies are directed towards characterisation of toxicant-induced changes leading to organ damage. The aim is to reveal mechanisms of long-term cognitive impairments and neurodegeneration in the adult brain following developmental exposure to neurotoxins such as BMAA and glyphosate. We are also studying the role of environmental contaminants in human endothelial dysfunction. In addition, the direct delivery of novel cell-based therapeutic agents to the brain via intranasal administration is being examined.
